William Hay

William was born in Prescott, Ontario in 1965. He graduated from Carleton University, in Ottawa in 1988 and has been employed as a professional by the City of Kingston, since that time. For 16 years he worked as a Police Constable, the final five in the capacity of a Forensic Investigator. The past 4 years he has worked as a Fire Inspector with the local Fire Department.  

He, in part, paid for his university education as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, as a Reservist. From 1985 to 1988 he was a member of the Governor General’s Foot Guards, performing the Ceremonial Guard parade on Parliament Hill for three summers. This experience added to the immense respect William has always had for the Canadian Military and those who have chosen to serve. This first hand experience has added to his familiarity to military life, and aids him in trying to recreate some of the feelings and reservations an historic soldier might have felt through his writings.  

He presently resides in Kingston, Ontario with his wife, daughter and a host of pets.
